COSTA REJECTS CHELSEA CONTRACT

Diego Costa has rejected a new contract offer from Chelsea worth a staggering £200,000 a week, according to The Times.

Chelsea are reported to have offered the Spaniard a new five-year deal worth £200,000 a week – a £50,000 weekly increase on his current deal – but the striker does not want to commit further to the club, according to The Times.

Costa has since received a huge counter-offer from Chinese side Tianjin Quanjia worth £570,000 a week, which Chelsea officials fear has turned the 28-year-olds head.

Antonio Conte claimed that Costa’s absence from the Blues 3-0 victory over Leicester City was solely because of a back injury, although many credible sources are convinced that his reluctance to train is connected to the offer he received from China.

The West Londoners are adamant that Costa will remain until the summer at least, with the Blues hierarchy reluctant to lose their star striker half way through the season.

Conte has been instructed to reintegrate Costa back into the side, with the Blues looking to maintain their healthy lead at the top of table.

It does however appear likely that the Blues will have have to begin the hunt for a long-term replacement incase the Spanish International fails to have a change of heart.
