Nana Addo suffers first labour brawl, 20,000 teachers to strike over unpaid salaries

President Nana Akufo Addo has been met with his very first labour agitation with aggrieved coalition of newly trained teachers who say they are laying down their tools, if the Nana Addo-led government does not pay them their accumulated salaries by the end of January.
A total number of 20,000 teachers,numbering over twenty thousand, say they have not been paid a dime since they were posted in September last year.“On the 5th of February, we are going to do a picketing at GES, Ministry of Education and the Controller and Accountant General, to pressurize them to quicken the process. By end of February, if we do not hear anything, we will go on strike until our needs are met,” president of the Coalition, Samuel Yeboah revealed.Meanwhile, the said aggrieved teachers will have to exercise patience since the education and labour ministers-designate are yet to be vetted and approved by the vetting committee of parliament.
